Afterfeast of the Elevation of the Cross (Commemorated on September 15)

Beginning on September 15th and continuing until the Leavetaking of the Feast, it is customary during the weekday Divine Liturgies to chant the hymn: “O come, let us worship and fall down before Christ. O Son of God, Who wast crucified in the flesh, save us who sing to Thee: Alleluia.” This solemn invocation is sung immediately following the Little Entrance, in place of the usual troparion to the Son, as a liturgical expression of devotion and reverence for the mystery of Christ’s crucifixion, which is central to the commemoration of the Holy Cross during this liturgical period.
Troparion — Tone 1
O Lord, save Your people, / and bless Your inheritance. / Grant victories to the Orthodox Christians / over their adversaries. / And by virtue of Your Cross, / preserve Your habitation.
Kontakion — Tone 4
As You were voluntarily raised upon the cross for our sake, / grant mercy to those who are called by Your Name, O Christ God; / make all Orthodox Christians glad by Your power, / granting them victories over their adversaries, / by bestowing on them the Invincible trophy, Your weapon of Peace.
