Matushka Carrie Foley appointed program lead of Clergy Wives Ministry

ree

Matushka Carrie Foley has been appointed program lead of the Clergy Wives Ministry under the Orthodox Church in America’s Office of Pastoral Life, beginning her work on November 1. She succeeds the volunteer committee that faithfully guided the ministry’s development, with deep gratitude extended to Matushkas Valerie Zahirsky, Alexandra Safchuk, Jennifer Levine, Wendy Cwiklinski, Miho Ealy, and Lela Powell. Bringing a rich background in missions, church service, graphic design, and business leadership, Matushka Carrie also draws on decades of experience as a clergy wife, mother, and community builder. She views this new role as one of support and encouragement, likening it to that of a birth doula—nurturing the often unseen yet vital work of clergy wives across the Church.

The Clergy Wives Ministry fosters connection, faith, and resilience among clergy wives and widows through retreats, online gatherings, and ongoing support. In her new role, Matushka Carrie will help guide the ministry’s growth, offering both pastoral sensitivity and practical leadership. Archpriest Nicholas Solak, Director of the Office of Pastoral Life, affirms her unique qualifications and commitment, noting her appointment will strengthen this vital ministry. The Office invites the faithful to pray for Matushka Carrie, her family, and all clergy wives as this next chapter of ministry begins.
